A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere Darko has assured depositors of the defunct DKM of receiving their locked-up deposits this week.
This comes after a coalition of depositors of the defunct financial Institute for not including their payments in the mid-year budget review presented to Parliament.
Leaders of the Coalition of Affected DKM Customers addressing a presser at Nkoransa on Monday, July 27, 2020, noted that they have been promised several times that their monies would be paid them but such assurance is yet to materialize.
According to the group, they have made several appeals to the appropriate authorities, but they are not getting any favourable feedback.
They noted that their hopes were dashed last week during the presentation of the mid-year budget review by the Finance Minister when only microfinance companies with challenges from 2017 were captured leaving out those of 2015 which included DKM.
But in a post on Facebook addressing the depositors, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko said “DKM has 88,962 validated claims of GHS646m. GHS329m paid, leaving GHS317m”.
He indicated that “All validated DKM customers are expected to receive cash covering full payments of their deposits this week. Only GHS23m (1,391 claims) out of total GHS669m were rejected”.
