Wanderlust Ghana Holds Take-Off Celebration as They Embark on 30,000 km Global Adventure

Wanderlust Ghana, the adventurous group that gained international recognition last year for their daring road trip from Accra to London, is preparing for an even greater feat.

On Sunday, September 8, the group held a take-off celebration at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra, as they gear up for an incredible 30,000-kilometre journey across 30 countries, starting in the third week of September.

Backed by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), the six core members of Wanderlust Ghana will travel through an array of destinations including Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, South Africa, and back to Ghana. The journey, which is expected to take over 30 days, is set to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Ghana on a global scale.

Kwabena Peprah, one of the team members, highlighted the purpose of the journey during the event. “We are an adventure club, and we do these things for our own satisfaction. However, as the journey has gained traction, we now have the opportunity to sell Ghana to the world,” he remarked.

In addition to the adventure, Wanderlust Ghana will offer Ghanaians and fans living abroad the opportunity to meet the team throughout the expedition. There are also plans to offer travel packages through a company called G10 to Dubai and South Africa, allowing interested individuals to join the adventure at key stops.

Kwabena Peprah, speaking on behalf of the group, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government for their assistance in fast-tracking visas for the journey. He also acknowledged the support of Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Arts, Mark Okraku-Mantey, for helping bring the vision to life.

“This time, we are doing 30,000 kilometres, and unlike last year’s trip to London, we will drive back to Ghana,” Kwabena noted, referencing last year’s successful 10,000-kilometre trip, where the team shipped their vehicles back home.

The journey will be streamed live on a platform called Pebble, allowing supporters and fans to follow along in real-time. The group’s ultimate goal remains clear: to put Ghana on the global tourism map.

As the Wanderlust Ghana team embarks on this incredible journey, they continue to demonstrate that adventure and philanthropy can go hand in hand, while shining a spotlight on Ghana’s cultural identity and tourism potential.
