We anticipate more recalcitrant chiefs being destooled; Otumfour is to be commended, Chief investigator gives high accolades

The recent harsh measures taken by Otumfour Osei Tutu II against several Ashanti kingdom chiefs for committing various offenses have been praised by Nana Kwadwo Amoah Ampem Okogyeabour, the executive director of Corruption Combat International.

He believes that the current dethronement frenzy at the Manhyia palace is a fantastic initiative that is aiding in the system’s sanitization.

During an interview conducted by Ghanawebmobi.com reporter Daniel Mbabugri Akgri over the phone on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, in Kumasi-Ashanti, the executive director—who also happens to be the great-grandson of Otumfour Osei Tutu II and the leader of the Manhyia Palace investigation team—predicted that numerous chiefs would continue his legacy of overthrow.

“I foresee many of such stubborn chiefs following the line of dethronement as the lead investigator for the Manhyia palace, about 64 subchiefs’ names are on the line likely to be destooled before the end of the year”. He continued.

According to him, there are still some chiefs who keep putting up bad behavior that denigrates the great kingdom. He has however appealed to Otumfour Osei Tutu II to destool more chiefs to serve as a deterrent.

“There are some people who are not ready to refrain from their corrupt practices, I believe Otumfour Osei Tutu II knows best and will know how to deal with such persons”.
