We’re reassembling our vigilante groups – Joseph Yammin hints

The National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Joseph Yammin has hinted that his party is preparing to reassemble its vigilante groups ahead of the 2024 general elections for their protection.

“From today as we speak, we are telling everybody through your network, as far as some of us are still executives of the party, we have already prepared ourselves”, Mr. Joseph Yammin announced

When asked if his statement meant the NDC is reassembling their vigilante groups the party was asked to disband some years back, Mr. Yammin sharply responded saying “Kwadwo you are correct”.

“We have fighters who are coming to face them”, he confirmed this to Kwadwo Marfo on Kumasi-based Abusua FM in an interview monitored by MyNewsGH.com.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Abetifi and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) while addressing party faithful in the Eastern Region after a keep fit walk was reported to have said the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government will never hand over power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“NDC party will collapse. If the NDC dares to us with threats, Violence and foolishness in the 2024 election we will let them know we have the men. We will show them that we have the men. We have the men! [He screamed to emphasize]. It will never happen that we the NPP will stand on a platform to hand over power to the NDC. It will never happen! We will make sure NPP remains in government at all cost”. Mr Bryan Acheampong vowed.

Leading NDC members and political analysts have heavily criticised him and called on him to retract and apologise for the treasonable comments.

However, Mr Yammin responding to the Agric Minister in his interview questioned the men Mr Bryan Acheampong was refereeing to in his party.

“If the NPP is to bring back their vigilante groups where they are? Where are the men Bryan Acheampong spoke about? Are the men the same as the people in uniforms who are for the state? He quizzed.

According to Mr Yammin, his party is bringing back the vigilante group because they feel unsafe under the Akufo-Addo-led government.

“If you do not have confidence in the state to provide you with protection, you need to find your own means. It is because there are not enough state security personnel that is why you need private security”, he lamented.
