Western Togoland attack- Incompetent Kan Dapaah must resign – Security Expert

National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah has from the onset exhibited incompetence in handling the issue of the secessionist group which should have been a matter of security concern, a security expert has said.

Adib Saani Jatikay, Executive Director of Jatikay Centre for Human Security and Peace Building has told MyNewsGh.com in an interview that the signs were clear that the latest action was bound to happen but the head of the country’s security sat aloof and failed to put in the necessary measures to curtail it.

He disclosed that the security agencies under the Minister failed to act on the early warning signs as they festered on with more lawless acts of the secessionist group including the latest.

“The National security minister must resign because he has failed on this occasion. We failed to gather intelligence as a country and we didn’t manage the issue from day one. We ignored all the early warning signs. The threat has been lingering on for long…these guys are making a political statement and it started with the signages but still, we didn’t act”, he disclosed.

Asked if there is any way to remedy the already muddy situation that stares the country in the face, he suggested that the Minister resigns or must be fired for a more competent hands to take over in the management of the country’s security.

“Get more competent hands to do the work… Improve intelligence, Collaborate with Togolese authorities, arrest and prosecute those fronting the agenda of the secessionist group and apply human security in affected areas”, he advised.
