The founder and leader of Glorious Wave Church, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications officer, Sammy Gyamfi, for visiting Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah, the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International at his church.
According to Badu Kobi, it was wrong for Sammy Gyamfi to visit Owusu-Bempah and give him credit for prophesying a win for president-elect John Dramani Mahama, who contested the 2024 general elections on the party’s ticket.
He explained that Owusu-Bempah did nothing in the spiritual realm to merit such honour. Rather, it was he who orchestrated plans in the Ashanti region, as instructed by God, to offer certain sacrifices to prevent supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from voting.
Speaking to his congregation on December 22, 2024, he stated, “Now those who are talking, when NPP was in power, who are those who caused us suffering?
“That is for another day. They should get ready and prove where I drink blood. They think I am going to spare them. No, they won’t have peace.
“You can’t cause trouble here and enter there, for what? Who is listening to you today? You will be shocked to see what will happen. Evil people. I get to the airport; I must be searched. I get to this place; this thing will happen.
“I am in my car; they stop me and search the car…with only one man of God just because he said NPP was in power.”
He continued, “This man of God, I told him, and he was joking with me. I said to him that when the NPP won power, that was 2016, they would arrest you. And he said, what am I saying? I said they would arrest you, and they arrested him.
“They think they have the same place here. And now to Sammy Gyamfi, NDC listen, Sammy Gyamfi, those who stood for NDC for God to bring the chosen one…now on Sunday, you go to places, and you say thank them. Thank them for what? What did he do?
“When he was speaking against your flagbearer, that blood was in his hands; we were working against it. Now you rush and go there. My son Sammy Gyamfi, you better stop this thing. I don’t need glory; I need truth,” he stated.
Sammy Gyamfi visited Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah at the Glorious Word Power Ministries International after John Mahama was declared winner in the just-ended 2024 general elections.
The visit occurred amidst heightened attention on Rev. Owusu-Bempah’s recent prophecy declaring John Dramani Mahama as the winner of the 2024 elections.
The meeting reportedly focused on prayers and spiritual alignment, with Owusu-Bempah reiterating his belief that Mahama’s leadership aligns with divine will.
Gyamfi’s visit was seen as an acknowledgement of the growing role spiritual leaders play in shaping political narratives in Ghana.
Addressing the congregation during church service on Sunday, December 8, 2024, Sammy Gyamfi expressed the gratitude of John Mahama and the NDC to God.
He also thanked Reverend Owusu-Bempah for his spiritual works for the NDC, which culminated in their victory.
Rev. Owusu-Bempah, who has historically been associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), raised eyebrows with his endorsement of Mahama.
He stated that Mahama’s leadership would be a second chance ordained by God. This prophecy sparked mixed reactions, with some criticizing Owusu-Bempah for involving himself in partisan politics, while others viewed it as a powerful shift in his stance.
