Three-times rejected presidential candidate hopeful, Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike has made an interesting revelation that his recent disqualification by the Electoral Commission (EC) from contesting in the December 7 polls, was an ‘Akufo-Addo’ masterminded act, MyNewsGh.com reports.
In a tell it all interview with Kwame Adinkrah on Kumasi-based Pure FM’s ‘Pure Live Chat’ monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the United Progressive Party Founder claimed that he was informed by the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Chairman, Benard Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi in a ‘business meeting’ at the latter’s house that, President Akufo-Addo in a scheme ensured that he wouldn’t be made a contestant as a presidential candidate in the polls.
“Nana Addo supervised my disqualification. Wontumi told me in his house when I went for a business meeting that Akufo-Addo does not want me to contest the 2020 elections as a presidential candidate. He is a changed man. He is not the same person we campaigned for some years ago.
So Kwame, the news of my disqualification didn’t hurt me because I was prepared for it.
My intention was not to win the 2020 elections but to prepare the grounds for the future. Even Akufo-Addo started in 1974 “He stated on Pure FM.
Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike along with some four others were disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC) from contesting the 2020 presidential elections on suspicion of what the EC described as ‘fraud’, citing IT issues, similar handwriting and signatures, fake signatures, supporters from the same districts, incomplete data as the major reasons.
The EC’s Chair, Madam Jean Mensa has however assured them (rejected aspirants) of reimbursing their GH¢100,000 filing fees albeit reporting the issue to the Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for investigations and prosecution.
