Nine (9) prominent members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have effectively submitted their nominations to compete in the Saturday, April 13, 2024, Ejisu parliamentary primaries.
Following the nomination deadline on Thursday, April 4, 2024, six (5) men and three (4) women were able to get their nomination forms turned in to the Elections Committee.
In the Ejisu by-election, Maame Yaa Aboagye, a formidable businesswoman in the petroleum industry as a downstream consultant, is most likely to succeed John Ampontuah Kumah.
Below is the list of the nine persons who have successfully submitted their forms;
Dr Evans Duah, Lecturer at Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED;
Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, former President of the Ghana Football Association
Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, former Second Vice Chairman for Ejisu
Lawyer Portia Acheampong Abronye, wife of Bono Regional Chairman of NPP.
Abena Pokua Amoah, the Ashanti regional NPP Women’s Campaign Manager
Helena Mensah, the Presiding Member of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly
Mr Clinsman Karikari Mensah, the former Assembly Member for Onwe
Maame Yaa Aboagye, Downstream Consultant, Petroleum industry
Aaron Prince Duah, Former Assembly Member for Essienimpong.
The party has set Saturday,6th April,2024 to vet the prospective candidates.
Mr. Kofi Ampofo Agyapong, the chairman of the Ejisu Constituency, called all aspiring parliamentary candidates to order to run clean campaigns instead of personal attacks. He stated that unity is required following the primaries to maintain the seat in memory of the late Hon. John Ampontuah Kumah, MP.
