The Overload of the Gonja Traditional Authority, His Royal Majesty Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewusoale I, is reported to have banned the Lands and Natural Resource Minister and Member of Parliament for the Damango Constituency, Samuel Abu Jinapor, from all palaces in the area over insubordination.
The chiefs and people of Damongo in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region issued a stern warning to Samuel Abu Jinapor, to stay away from interfering in traditional matters in the area.
According to them, the continuous interference of the MP in matters that should be handled within traditional frameworks has the tendencies of causing widespread discontent and disaffection among the people.
Addressing a press conference in Damongo, Saa Wura -Abukari Jaga on behalf of the Damongowura Kelly Braimah Boresa Seidu said, the MP is the only stakeholder who has refused to recognize and acknowledge Damongowura Kelly as the substantive Damongowura as affirmed by the Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Soale Jewu.
Samuel Jinapor has refuted claims of his involvement in Gonja chieftaincy matters.
In a press release issued on July 18, Mr Jinapor addressed recent media publications suggesting his interference in chieftaincy issues in Damongo and the wider Gonja area.
Mr Jinapor emphasized that these allegations are entirely false. He reiterated his respect for the chieftaincy institution, particularly acknowledging the authority of the Overlord of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bi-Kunuto Jewu Soale, and other chiefs.
