Your last warning – Sarkodie cautions bleaching ladies

Winner of the 2019 BET International Flow act award, Sarkodie, has advised African women to desist from bleaching their skin and instead start appreciating their natural skin color.

Taking his turn on the BET Cypher, Michael Owusu Addo, gave a deep and flawless rap verse on a topic that has been on the lips of many celebrities on the continent.

The rapper in his flow did not only advocate for black empowerment but also urged women on the continent to appreciate their natural complexion and desist from bleaching.

The “Saara” hitmaker said, “This is your last warning, beautiful Melanin, dark skin. Let me see your hands if you worship a black queen. Clean the chemicals up with a napkin, throw all the bleaching creams in the dustbin”.

He added that, Africa women should be proud of their scars and stretch marks because there is nothing more stunning than a skin like that and a woman who takes absolute care of it.

“Don’t let anybody tell you are not beautiful because you’re black, if you can’t change it and you still continue bleaching then you slack because of the confident you lack”.

Sarkodie did the Cypher alongside Caribbean rapper Kalash.

Ghana, including several African countries, recently banned the use of skin bleaching products because of the dangers and negative effects it has on the body.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), 77% of women in Nigeria use skin-lightening products, the world’s highest percentage.

The Tema “darling boy”, made history over the weekend after becoming the first artiste to be crowned the Best International Flow Act at the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards held at the Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta, United States of America (USA).

Sarkodie saw off competition from Falz the Bad Guy (Nigeria), Ghetts and Little Simz (United Kingdom), Kalash (France), Nasty C (South Africa) and Tony Lanez (Canada) to emerge the victor in the newly created category.
