BANNING ACTIVITIES IS OUT OF TRADITION AND IMPERATIVE, ESPECIALLY FARMING

Members of the AOWIN traditional council have been notified that certain individuals, whose identities are unknown to the council have restricted major activities in AOWIN, including FARMING, which was started on February 24th and will end on April 14tbecauseunds that a queen mother has passed on.

We, the AOWIN Traditional Council members, wish to notify the populace of AOWIN to disregard that statement for the following reasons, via the Acting President, Nana Kojo Sikantia II.

1. That the highest decision-making body for chieftaincy matters, the AOWIN traditional council, has not convened to make that determination.

2. In addition to being untraditional, the decision is inappropriate and goes against the Ghana Cocoa Board’s government policy to increase cocoa production in Ghana through rehabilitating and so, abandoning cocoa farms from farming, pruning, and applying liquid fertilizers to increase cocoa bean yields this year, from 24th February to April 14th 2024, will affect the cocoa board policy. We the council members are of the view that we will not take any decisions that will eventually oppose the good policy of the government, hence, the statement should therefore be disregarded.

3. The council will not take any decisions to affect economic activities in AOWIN.
Every community, be it a Metropolitan, Municipal, or District, thrives on the economic activities of the citizenry, hence the council will not take any move that will affect AOWIN’s economic activities. We, the council members, believe that some so-called Funeral Committee members made that statement on the radio and in churches without consulting the appropriate authorities for the necessary advice. We, therefore, entreat you all to go on to your customary duties and disregard the unprecedented One-and-a-half-month restrictions purported to be announced by the AOWIN Traditional Council on social activities including farming.

The statement was signed by Nana Kojo Sikantia II, the acting president of the AOWIN Traditional Council on Thursday, 29th February, 2024.
