Fans are entitled to voice their opinions on the lives of their favourite housemates, as Big Brother Mzansi star Yolanda Monyai elaborates on her statement in her podcast. In a discussion with Willy and Chuenza, the ex housemates of BBMzansi shared in unison the role of fans, irrespective of their entitlement sometimes.
Yolanda Monyai believes that fans play a crucial role in the success of the person they choose on the show as their favourite. These fans are there to engage you and push your content. She also emphasises that, as much as people advise them not to allow their fans to have opinions in their lives or control them, they should also know that, same fans are the reason brands will look their way and are there for your brand.
Without these fans, you can’t trend, which makes it easier for brands to work with you. You can’t be visible to the entertainment market; this keeps expanding, and she gave an example of Khosi Twala and her fans. Chuenza added that Khosi gives his fans the reason to be there for her, she chose them, and they also chose her.
The consensus reached by all was that, since the fans had watched the entire show and could not possibly be wrong, their requests should be considered if they would prefer not to be with a particular housemate after it was all over.
Yolanda explained that, it shouldn’t be the entirety of you not talking to the person, but there should be this mutual understanding between the two of you, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that you shouldn’t talk to them forever, but their opinion must be respected.
Yolanda encourages open dialogue and constructive criticism from viewers to enhance the overall viewing experience. Put aside your dislike for Yolanda, because of her laudability, which many people from other fanbases and even a couple of housemates didn’t like, but don’t take it away from her intellectual discourse and how analytical she can be in discussions. It’s important to recognize and appreciate different aspects of a person, even if they may not align with our personal preferences.
