Creative Arts Federation of Ghana Inaugurated to Foster Industry Unity and Growth

In a momentous occasion that promises to redefine the creative landscape of Ghana, the Creative Arts Federation of Ghana (CAFOG) was inaugurated on June 6, 2025, at the prestigious National Theatre VIP Lounge. This epochal event marked the culmination of tireless efforts to unify the creative arts industry, bringing together disparate threads of artistic expression under a singular, formidable umbrella.

The ceremony was graced by the illustrious presence of Mr. Henry Malm, the newly appointed Managing Director of the National Theatre of Ghana, who served as the Special Guest of Honour.

In his stirring address, Mr. Malm extended his warmest felicitations to the leadership of CAFOG, expressing his unrelenting confidence in their capacity to achieve their objectives.

“Seeing the content of your Governing Board, I want to tell you that you have the human resource to achieve whatever you intend to. Don’t give up. We at the government side, we need you. What you have done, we were supposed to do this but you have done it. So what I’m saying is, continue to unite the creative arts industry for this country,” he exhorted.

The keynote address was delivered with aplomb by Mr. Richard Yaw Boateng, the inaugural President of CAFOG, who eloquently articulated the Federation’s vision and mission.

According to Mr. Boateng, CAFOG represents a harmonious convergence of all associations, unions, and guilds within the seven distinct domains of the Creative Arts Industry in Ghana, namely Film, Music, Fashion, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Literary Arts, and Media. This synergistic approach is set to foster a new era of collaboration, innovation, and artistic excellence.

The Federation’s Governing Board, comprising the Board Executives and representatives from each of the seven domains, is the epicenter of CAFOG’s leadership structure. Each domain is further bolstered by its own Domain Committee, consisting of representatives from constituent associations, unions, and guilds. This hierarchical framework is designed to facilitate seamless communication, coordination, and collective progress.

In her valedictory remarks, H.E. Rev. Dr. Lilian Sally Addo, the first Secretary General of the Federation, expressed her profound gratitude to the Almighty for guiding the Federation to this milestone.

She acknowledged the unwavering dedication and perseverance that had characterized the Federation’s journey thus far, urging stakeholders to prioritize the greater good and eschew personal agendas.

“Nobody should personalize this initiative but get involved to make it beneficial to all creatives in Ghana,” she counseled.

Indeed as CAFOG embarks on its maiden voyage, the creative arts industry in Ghana stands positione on the cusp of a new era of unity, cooperation, and unprecedented growth. With its sights set on fostering a vibrant, thriving artistic ecosystem, the Federation is primed to make an indelible impact on the country’s cultural landscape.
