Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George says the threats on his life for pushing against LGBTQI promotion in the country is unending.

He said the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Gregory Andrews is one of such persons who has threatened to jail him if he [Sam George] ever step foot in USA, UK or Canada.

The lawmaker told Umaru Sanda on eyewitness news on Citi FM today.

According to him, the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana who sat two people away from him issued the threat during the match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, June 27.

He indicated that soon after the match Gregory Andrews approached him pretending as though nothing had happened between them.

In May this year, Sam George issued a strong warning to the Austrian High Commissioner to Ghana of impending beatings if he does not desist from trying to impose LGBTQI on Ghanaians.

Speaking to Nana Aba On Starr Chat, the lawmaker stated, ” If he does not respect himself, I will treat him like non -Diplomat, Diplomat has signed a letter of credence to respect the Laws of Ghana you cannot come from Australia and dictate LGBTQI to us, do you know him, he does not have to identify,” he fumes.

According to Sam George, Mr Gregory Andrews, the Australian High Commissioner went to Parliament and paid a visit to Alban Bagbin to facilitate and lobby for the legalization of the LGBTQI in Ghana.

Meanwhile, Alban Bagbin has sent a word of caution to diplomats and other organizations threatening some MPs behind a private members’ bill.

At the speaker’s prayer breakfast meeting, Alban Bagbin assured the bill will be passed before the year ends describing homosexuality as a pandemic worse than Covid-19 which requires a concerted effort to address.

His comments come after eight Members of Parliament have presented a bipartisan private members’ bill to the Speaker for a clear ban on activities of LGBTQI in Ghana.

He said “…on behalf of the members of Parliament to the Rt. Hon Speaker, in the presence of the clergy, so that the invasion on our values today we are making a statement that we members of parliament we are ready and prepared.”

“With this, Rt Hon Speaker, I want to assure all law-abiding citizens in this country that we members of parliament are prepared to make sure that if you are law-abiding we will continue to be law-abiding and the peace of God will be upon you.

He continued, “but if you threaten us because some of our colleagues have started receiving threats both from within and from outside and we will not countenance those threats.”

“We want to inform all and sundry in this country, whether you are from the diplomatic corps or from within the executive or from among ourselves as a legislature, we are sounding this call that the chiefs are here, the traditional leaders and the clergy, with our brothers from the Muslim fraternity to speak with one voice that enough of this invasion is enough.”
