A Group Called For The Removal Of Ahafo Ano South-East DCE Over Galamsey Menace n the Area

The concerned citizens of the Ahafo Ano South-East District of the Ashanti Region are coming for the immediate removal of the district chief executive officer over the recent uncontrolled destruction of lands due to illegal mining activities (Galamsey) in the area under his watch.

In a press conference held at Adugyama, the district capital of the area organized by a group called the concerned citizens of Ahafo Ano South-East District want the district chief executive officer Thomas Owusu Ansah to be removed from office by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his negligence and failed in the illegal mining activities (Galamsey) in the area.

According to them, the illegal mining (Galamsey) activities have become a burden to the people of Adugyama and its surrounding communities in the Ahafo Ano South-East District of Ashanti and the best solution to the problem is firing off the DCE under whose watch such disturbing menace is happening.

They said communities such as Ogyam, Dotibi, Achirakrom, and Biemtetrete have been denied access to potable drinking water due to illegal mining (Galamsey).

However, they are therefore pleading with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to immediately remove Thomas Owusu Ansah from his post as the district chief executive officer for the Ahafo Ano South-East District.

Again, they complained about the negligence of other developmental projects and the mismanagement of funds since he became the district chief executive officer in the area.

Addressing the press conference, Frederick Asare Boakye who is the convener to the concerned citizens of the Ahafo Ano South-East District expressed worry about the DCE’s refusal to commission the Adugyama and Sabronum police stations which have been built by the people of the above-mentioned communities and made ready for operation since 2021.

He said the aforementioned police stations were built through the contribution of the indigenous people of Adugyama and Sabronum both locally and abroad to save the communities by providing them with security but the police post has been left to root with no tangible reason.

Other abandoned projects he inherited that are ready for use include the Adugyama market, Amokrom Basic School, Biemso No.1 Basic School, and Adugyama Job Center to mention a few, have been neglected by Thomas Owusu Ansah, the DCE of the area.

Before the press conference, the following offices were petitioned by the group calling for the removal of the District Chief Executive Officer, Thomas Owusu Ansah.
