The Member of Parliament for the Akatsi
South Constituency, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor and Hope For Ghana, an NGO have cut sod for the commencement of work on a 4-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities for the Sesime D/A Basic school yesterday, 23rd of October, 2021.
The school is among a few others in the Akatsi South District still scuffling with infrastructure challenges since its establishment some years back.
Addressing the media after the sod-cutting ceremony, the Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) in the Akatsi South Constituency, Mr. John Kobby Agbanavor stated that the MP’s gesture was in fulfillment of his promise to the constituents to ensure quality and accessibility education in the area.
He stressed that the priority of the MP is education, which is the only key to success,’ and urged the authority of the school to ensure proper maintenance of the building if constructed to ensure the attainment of their intended purpose.
Mr. Japhet Festus Gbede, the ward coordinator for Wuxor- Have and Sremanu Electoral Area and the vice Chairman for the Akatsi All Stars supporters Union who is also lacing his boots to contest the upcoming NDC Constituency Election also commended the member of parliament for his kind gesture.
During the sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor said the facility will help improve the educational infrastructure deficits in the area, increase the number of enrollments and create a sound environment to facilitate effective teaching and learning in the electoral area.
He also stressed that education is a key tool to personal and national development; hence, his commitment together with that of the NGOs to ensure the provision of quality and accessible education to the constituent.
As such, the provision of education at the basic and secondary levels will continue to be his topmost priority.
As part of the actualization of his vision for his constituency, he said several classroom blocks and dormitories have or are being built across the length and breadth of the Akatsi South constituency.
The sod-cutting ceremony was attended by the Executive Director of Hope for Ghana, Dr. Steve Green, A member of parliament for the area, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, chiefs and elders of the area, the Assemblymember for the area, The Akatsi South Constituency Chairman, The Constituency Secretary, Mr. Daniel Dagba, The Constituency Treasurer, Mr. Solomon Anthony Adoteivi, and some other branch Executives.
