GhanaNewsPage.Com can report that over 35 passengers were burnt to death when a passenger bus caught fire at the Police Barrier in Akomadan on the Offinso-Nkenkaasu road in the Ashanti Region.
The bus, believed to be an OA Bud was heading to Kumasi from Lawra in the Upper West Region when the accident occurred.
An eye witness who spoke to GhanaNewsPage.Com said he saw the passenger bus which was on top speed catch fire after the driver applied breaks at the Police check point.
“Some of the passengers tried hard to break the glass and exit while several others were heard screaming in pain as the fire burnt the bus…,” he said.

One of the passengers who managed to escape told GhanaNewsPage.Com that the bus was full of passengers when we set off from Lawra.
“However, about 10 people alighted when we reached Techiman and two others also joined so in all we were about 37 in the bus because the bus takes about 45 people…,” he said.
The fire, he said started at the front of the vehicle.
