Seasoned Journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has sent a word of caution to the security services in Ghana to be on guard as some African countries experience coup d’états.
Commenting on the military takeover in Burkina Faso on Monday resulting in the overthrow of President Roch Kaboré, Mr. Pratt admonished the security services not to let their guard down as he referred to reports that some Islamic insurgents have infiltrated Ghana.
“Our own security services have cautioned us that they have infiltrated Ghana. A Police intelligence report that was disclosed for our reading indicates that they have entered Tamale and even have sleeping cells in Ghana. If this is so, then it’s very dangerous,” he said during a panel discussion on Peace FM’s ”Kokrokoo”.
The Government of Burkina Faso has been overthrown and the country’s constitution suspended, according to a statement by the country’s Army which was reported by Reuters.
The report explained that the country’s army led by Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba had dissolved the government and the National Assembly as well as closed the borders.
Mr. Pratt shared worrying concerns that Ghana is currently housing some Islamic insurgents, therefore asked ”what are we doing about this?”
