Gunshot at Kasoa Gada over distribution of MP’s rice, 2 injured

At least two people have been injured during the distribution of rice by the MP for Awutu Senya East Mavis Hawa Koomson to needy people at Kasoa Gada in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central.

According to information, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson who’s also Minister for Special Initiatives, sent a team to distribute some rice and cooking oil to needy people who have been affected by the lockdown.

In an interview with Kasapa FM news Yaw Boagyan, an eyewitness popularly known as Two ‘Cedis’ revealed that upon arrival of the team, some group of people believed to be NDC attacked them saying that, that area is the opposition NDC party’s stronghold so they should stop sharing the rice.

In the ensuing melee, one person reportedly fired a warning shot which accidentally hit two people injuring them.

The victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Police officers from the Kasoa Police Command who arrived at the scene to maintain law and order retrieved the gun.
