The Ejisu Constituency Delegate Poll Analysis ahead of the NPP parliamentary primaries on the 13th April 2024 has indicated that Dr. Evans Duah is the choosing candidate among nine contenders.

*Objective* : The objective of this poll was to gauge the preferences and sentiments of delegates in the Ejisu Constituency regarding the upcoming elections and their considerations for selecting a candidate.

*Methodology:* The poll reached a significant portion of the delegate pool, comprising a substantial number out of the total 1,081 delegates. It utilized both one-on-one phone calls and in-person interviews to gather data. The primary objective was to understand the key factors guiding delegate voting choices. These factors included loyalty to the late Dr. John Kumah’s legacy, resonance with candidate messaging, pedigree, allegiance to Dr. John Kumah, and the potential for securing ministerial appointments beyond serving as an MP.

*Key Findings:*

1. Dr. Evans Duah: Dr. Duah emerged as the leading candidtae with strong support from 75% of the delegates. His reputation as a finance expert and lecturer, coupled with perceived loyalty to Dr. John Kumah’s legacy and demonstrated involvement in impactful projects, bolstered his candidacy. Delegates valued his solid pedigree, extensive networks, and specific project proposals, despite concerns about his late entry into campaign activities following Dr. Kumah’s passing.

2. Helena Mensah: While currently serving as the Presiding Member, Helena Mensah secured 8% of delegate support. However, delegates expressed reservations about her ability to match the late MP’s standards and bring substantial development to the constituency, emphasizing the need for a candidate with a higher profile and broader impact beyond local presence.

3. Yaa Gyamera Aboagye: A personal assistant at the National Communication Authority, Aboagye garnered 6% of delegate support. However, delegates struggled to identify any strong connections with Dr. Kumah’s projects or articulate her campaign message, contributing to her relatively low standing.

4. Kwabena Boateng: He is a lawyer, Boateng faced criticism from delegates for allegedly betraying the late MP while he was alive. Many delegates were concerned about Boateng’s quick start to campaigning and showing interest in the seat right after the late MP’s death. This made many delegates doubt Boateng’s loyalty to the late MP. As a result, only 4% of delegates supported his candidacy.

5. Kwesi Nyantakyi: He’s a former president of the Ghana Football Association, known for being caught in corruption scandals exposed in the “Number 12” documentary by Anas Aremeyaw Anas. Many delegates acknowledged his popularity, but they felt that electing him would tarnish Ejisu’s reputation. They didn’t want to associate their constituency with someone who had become a public ridicule. Consequently, he received only 3% support from delegates

6. Abena Pokua Amoah: Despite her five-time candidacy, delegates expressed doubts about Amoah’s ability to fill Dr. Kumah’s shoes or convey a compelling campaign message, leading to a mere 2% of delegate support.

7. Portia Acheampong: Delegates exhibited limited familiarity with Acheampong, primarily associating her with her husband rather than her own candidacy. Concerns about her effectiveness and motivations hindered her support, resulting in a minimal 1% delegate backing.

8. Aaron Prince Duah: Delegates exhibited uncertainty regarding Duah’s candidacy, with many unable to recall his policies or campaign presence, resulting in minimal support at 0.5%.

9. Klinsman Karikari Mensa: Despite being the youngest candidate, Mensa struggled to gain traction among delegates due to limited visibility and awareness of his candidacy, also receiving 0.5% delegate support.

Conclusion: Dr. Evans Duah emerges as the clear favorite among delegates in the Ejisu Constituency, leveraging his perceived loyalty to Dr. John Kumah’s legacy, expertise, and project proposals to secure significant support.
