Fire Destroys Onion Market at Old Fadama

The Onion Market at Old Fadama in Accra has been destroyed by fire on Monday, 31st March, 2020.

The fire which gutted down over fifty wooden shelves and structures was said to have started at around 2:15 a.m on Monday.

Many foodstuffs such as bags of rice, sacks of onions and many others running into thousands of Ghana Cedis were destroyed.

No deaths or injuries have been recorded so far and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Fire tenders from the South Industrial Area were deployed to bring down the fire.

Speaking to My News Ghana, Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge confirmed the situation.

She however said that investigations have been started into the cause of the fire and more information will be given when it is completed.
