The District chief executive officer for the Ahafo Ano South East District of the Ashanti region upon his attempt to encounter a press conference organized by the concerned citizens of Ahafo Ano South East District calling for his removal as the District chief executive officer in the area over galamsey menace is confused and ranting with a pretense, sounding strong caution to illegal miners (Galamseyers) who he used his office to protect their operations since he resumed office to refrain from their acts.
Hon Thomas Owusu Ansah, the DCE and the chairman of the District Security Council ( DISEC ) in reacting to the current pressure mounted on him, made these alleged revelations to the media that intended to be after members of DISEC stormed Galamsey sites in Adugyama to set excavators ablaze at illegal mining sites which does not have any facts to be established following the call of his removal.
According to Hon Thomas Owusu Ansah, illegal mining activities over the years have caused total pollution to the country’s water and river bodies, forest reserves, and the entire environment which is a very worrying development, he confessed.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has tasked all his appointees particularly those within the local level who are his representatives to make sure illegal miners are always flushed out he met all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District chief executives in the Ashanti region barely a couple of years ago in the Ashanti regional capital in Kumasi to task them to collaborate effectively with the various security agencies, the traditional authorities, and other key stakeholders to help fight the Galamsey menace but Hon Thomas Owusu Ansah, the DCE for the Ahafo Ano South East District has failed the government.
Hon Thomas Owusu Ansah after assuming office as the DCE for the Ahafo Ano southeast in barely 3 years can not be with any developmental-oriented project to show in all sectors and has disappointed the chiefs and the people of his district in his tenure of office.
The organizers of the press conference who called for the removal of the DCE, Hon. Thomas Owusu Ansah were attacked and beaten to a pulp by macho men whom they believed to be acting under the influence of the DCE.
The case has been reported to the Adugyama Police Command, according to the information gathered.
