Girl, 11, burnt to death in domestic fire outbreak

An 11-year-old girl Tuntaya Abdul-Samed has been burnt to death in a domestic fire outbreak at Meduma in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti region.

The incident occurred around 1:57 pm Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

The regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service, DOIII Peter Addai told Class News’ Elisha Adarkwah that they received a distress call and rushed to the scene.

He said although there were some people in the house during the fire incident, unknown to them, the victim had returned from school and was sleeping in one of the rooms.

Mr. Addai said the minor was found dead after the fire was put under total control.

All the six-bedroom compound house and their contents, he said, were lost to the blaze.

Mr. Addai said the cause of the fire was not yet known but they have commenced investigations to unravel it.

The charred body was handed to the Mampongten police and has been deposited at the Ankaase hospital morgue.
