“God’s Craft vs Man’s Scalpel: Pere Egbi Weighs In on Natural vs Manufactured Beauty”

Outspoken Nigerian-US-based actor Pere Egbi has waded into yet another controversy following his recent comment on the natural beauty of women.

The actor stirred social media after he took to Twitter and expressed admiration for those women who were, in his own words, “naturally endowed” and moulded by God without surgical enhancements.

Pere, in a tweet, hailed women whose natural beauty leaves one aghast, saying, “There’s some women you see and you’d be like Goooood God! God Dey create. Not the surgically manufactured ones o, natural beauty.” He made it clear that his appreciation goes to women with natural features and subtly jabbed at those who have undergone surgical procedures to get enhanced.

These posts quickly earned him backlash from fans of reality TV star Mercy Eke, as many felt that Pere’s comment was a subtle shade aimed at her. In response, Mercy’s fanbase said Pere was shading her and that he needed to move on from what transpired between them.

Notably, after Pere and Mercy left the BBNaija house, speculations circulated about the two having a casual fling, although later Pere went on to clarify that he and Mercy never dated.

Despite clarifying that, Mercy’s fans jumped on him each time his posts appeared closest to her, and this tweet wasn’t an exception.

While Pere has insisted that his comments were general and not aimed at any particular individual, the backlash from Mercy’s fanbase will only continue to add fuel to the fire in the ongoing drama between the two public figures.

This tweet from Pere has contributed to the wider debate on social media regarding beauty standards in society. Some praise him for his stance on natural beauty, while others criticize him as he demeans women who enhance their looks:.
