There are some steps or things to check to confirm if someone is suffering a stroke and they are as follows;

1. Ask the person to smile – while he or she is trying to smile watch to new if their face droops or one side appears to be higher than the other, if this is the case, then there could be cause for alarm as it may indicate that a stroke is about to happen.

2. Have the person raise both of his or her arms, them you watch to see if one arm is weak or sags without the person’s own knowledge or consent. If one arm starts sagging without the person bringing it down by him or herself, then there’s certainly a cause for concern.

3. Speech – ask the person to say a simple phrase or sentence and watch out for slurred or strange sounding words. If the person is not known for this in the past, he or she may be suffering a stroke or about to suffer a full stroke, endeavour to take him or her to the hospital as early as possible.
