I’m pained my father couldn’t wait to see my success as an MP – Obour

Former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana, Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour has said what pains him most is the fact that his father, Nana Osei Kuffour, will not be alive to see him become a Member of Parliament.

The former MUSIGA president made this revelations in an interview on Peace FM, monitored by GhanaWeb.

It would be recalled that Obour’s father, Nana Osei Boansi Kuffour was alleged to have died of coronavirus infection at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

According to Obour, after his mother died his father became the next closest thing to him, and they shared a special very friendly father son relationship, and he was hurt that now that he is in a position to help him and also make him enjoy the fruits of his labor he is no longer alive.

He told Akwesi Aboagye, “If there are two things that hurt me most in this world, the death of my father will be number one. After my mother died in 2016, my father became my mum and my dad. Everyone who knows my father knows he is a father who is more than a friend, I do everything with him. The reason why I’m so pained is that he couldn’t wait to see the future of his son. Now that I’ve also grown to a point where I can take care of him financially so he can enjoy the fruit of his labor”

According to Obour, one of the biggest dreams of his father was to see him become an MP in the Asante Akyem Constituency, and it saddens him a lot to see that he would not be there to witness this happen.

He also revealed on the show, that he and his family had planned a huge birthday party for his father’s 75th birthday, which was also to crown his success when he wins the MP race. He said his father had been with him from day one when he decided to contest for the seat, and he was solidly behind him when he picked up his forms at the party office. He told Akwesi Aboagye that he would work hard to win the seat for his father

“I know one of his heart desires was to see me become the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem South because he knew the heart with which I’m doing this work. If this happened to someone, I’m sure they might not have been able to continue with this race but I’m motivated by the fact that the only glory I can give my father in death is to win this race.

“This was the year he had his 75th birthday so we all decided that when I win my primaries, we would organize a big 75th birthday celebration for him. He was very key in my contest, even when I went to pick my nomination forms at Asante Akyem South constituency office, he was there with me, everyone can attest to that fact. He is a father who was my friend, my advisor and my everything and for him to die within that short time without really getting bed-ridden, I’m still unable to understand”, he said.
