Kwasi Nyantakyi Polls 35 out of 1081 Votes in the Ejisu By-Election

Ahead of the upcoming by-elections on April 30, Kwabena Boateng, a lawyer and the second vice chairman of the NPP in the Ejisu Constituency has emerged victorious as the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for Ejisu.

Lawyer Boateng secured 394 votes in the just-ended NPP internal primary held on Saturday 13th April 2024, where he beat his closest competitor, Helena Mensah, who garnered 302 votes. Yaa Akyemaa Aboagye trailed with 229 votes.

Meanwhile, the Former GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, who had been hospitalized before the primary, received a minimal 35 votes.

Dr. Evans Duah polled 63 votes, Portia Acheampong Abronye had 6 votes, and Klinsman Karikari Mensah and Aaron Prince Duah garnered 2 votes each respectively.

Jacqueline Abena Pokua Amoah-Boaitey popularly known as ‘Ejisu Broni’ scored zero. This was her third time contesting in the constituency.

A total of 1081 delegates participated in deciding the fate of nine aspirants competing to represent the New Patriotic Party in the forthcoming by-election in the Ejisu Constituency.

Allegations of vote buying, double voting, and attempts by some delegates to take screenshots of their cast ballots, however, tainted the process.

After John Ampontuah Kumah, the Member of Parliament for Ejisu, passed away, the party held the parliamentary primary to elect someone in place of the MP in the upcoming by-election.
