My Husband Used ‘Carrot’ To Check Whether I Have Slept With Another Man

A middle-aged woman in Nyandarua county told a painful story about how her husband, whom she didn’t want to marry, would put a carrot in her private parts to see if she had slept with another man.

She was born into a poor family in Nyandarua county. She quit school when she was in the seventh grade to take care of her younger siblings so that her mother could do manual labor in exchange for food.

She later started dating a young man who lived next door to them. When he found out that she was pregnant with his child, he left. Her parents didn’t like her, so they would beat her.

She gave birth to a boy after nine months. Around 7 p.m. one day, when she was going to get milk, a man put an old jacket over her and put her on his shoulder. She yelled, but nobody could hear her.

He brought her to his house, slept with her, and told her that from that day on, she would be his wife. The man had threatened to kill her if she ran away, so she had no choice. He used to smoke a drug called bhang.

He would sleep with her for more than two hours, and he was also a violent person. After they had 5 kids together, he started saying that she was sleeping with the men who were talking to her.

He would go back into the house and put a carrot in her private parts to see if she had slept with anyone. It hurt her, so she left the bad marriage and is now raising her six kids on her own.
