NDC won’t collapse if we lose 2024 – Ohene Agyekum replies Doe Adjaho

A Council of Elder member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ambassador Daniel Ohene Agyekum has stated that he disagrees with the position of former speaker Edward Doe Adjaho, suggesting that if the party fails to win the 2024 elections, it  will disintegrate.

Speaking in the Volta Region, at the NDC delegates Conference, the former MP for the Avenor-Ave constituency now Akatsi South, called on party members to sacrifice to ensure the party achieves its target in the next elections.

“We are a social democratic party, we put people at the center of what we do so please I beg you, colleagues I beg you, we have to win the 2024 elections otherwise NDC will be disintegrated, let’s sacrifice for this party for once,” Mr. Doe Adjaho said.

However, reacting to the Former Speakers statement on Ultimate 106.9 FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Mr. Agyekum, noted that Honorable Adjaho’s assertions are not tenable.

“I don’t share the view of Honorable Adjaho, over the years since 1992 the NDC as a party has built enough resilience within the system that will withstand the test of time, I don’t believe if the party does not win the 2024 elections the party won’t break up, the party will still exist”

“This is the second largest party in this country since the 4th republic, power has been alternating between the NPP and the NDC, we have built enough resilience, losing one elections doesn’t mean we will break up as a party system , we have lost elections before and that did not happen”, he disagreed with the former lawmaker

Mr.  Agyekum is however calling on the party after its regional elections to remain focused and united ahead of the 2024 general elections.

“We must stay united, winning the 2024 elections starts now, and nobody should push his individual agenda ahead of the party. NDC is a unit and we must all stay focused”.

“We don’t need any distractions of camp this or camp that, the people must not be distracted, these NPP people are canning and smart we must start our process of winning the elections at all levels, now, the wards and what have you”. He advised.
