Ningo SHS Computer Lab destroyed by rainstorm

The Ningo Senior High School (SHS) in the Ningo-Prampram District’s computer laboratory and the staff common room have been destroyed by torrential rain that ripped off the roofing of the structures of some of the buildings in the school.

The computer lab and staff common room were temporarily turned into a pool of water as a result the desktop computers, and the internet rack, as well as students’ exercise books and files, were soaked in the water.

The staff and students have been left worried and wondering what to do when school starts on Monday after the weekend.

The rainstorm started at about 13:00 hours last Friday, however, there were no injuries or casualties even though the school was in session at the time of the rainstorm.

Mr. Michael Tetteh Eku, Ningo-Prampram District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) told newsmen that a team had visited the school to assess the extent of the damage.

Mr Eku said he would review a report from the team to decide on the best interventions to be given to the school based on the extent of the damage.

Advising residents, he said people who were living in structures that have signs of weakness should endeavour to reinforce them to ensure their safety during this year’s rainy season.
