NPP has the competence to manage the economy but no leadership – Manasseh Azure Awuni

Award-winning investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has asserted that there are competent persons within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) who can effectively and efficiently manage Ghana’s economy but the party lacks the leadership to make this happen.

The governing party has been accused of mismanaging the Mr economy and therefore occasioning the need for economic support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). But Mr. Azure Awuni has intimidated that persons who have what it takes to manage the economy are not being given the chance to do so.

“The NPP does not lack the competence to manage our economy. It lacks leadership,” he said on social media.

After rebuffing calls by experts to seek an IMF bailout, the Government finally announced on July 1, 2022, that the President had instructed Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to engage the IMF for a programme that will help the country with its balance of payment challenges.
