One suspected armed robber shot dead in cross-fire

One suspected armed robber has been shot dead after an exchange of gunfire with security personnel at Adonteng community bank at Abomosu in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern region.

Police report says, on Friday noon, three armed men in masks with guns attacked security personnel at the bank and attempted to rob.

Exchange of gunshots occurred between the armed men and the security personnel on duty. One of the armed robbers was found dead afterwards.

His lifeless body was found by the police 120 metres from the bank with his itel mobile phone beside him when they arrived at the scene on a report from managers of the bank and the bank’s security personnel.

A crowbar and one empty BB cartridge were also found.

After inspection of the body, gunshot wounds were found in his throat.

The body has been conveyed to the Kibi government hospital for preservation awaiting autopsy.

The two other mask arm robbers are currently on the run.

The police also found out, that the armed men broke part of the glass door leading to the bank hall and part of the window frame.
