Panic at Ghana Manganese as community officer dies of coronavirus

There is growing fear among workers of Tarkwa-Nsuta-based company, Ghana Manganese after a principal community officer died of COVID-19.

The Deputy Health Director in charge of clinical services in the Western Region, Dr Atsu Dordor who confirmed the news said sample of the deceased was taken last week but she died even before her results was confirmed to be positive.

The development has forced management of the company to shut down the hospital and advised workers to go into self-isolation.

Since news broke on Sunday, April 10, about the demise of the senior community health officer, reports suggest residents, particularly at Nsuta, have locked themselves in their rooms.

Ghana has far recorded 22 deaths of Covid-19 with over 4000 positive cases.
