Poland’s President tests positive for covid-19

Poland’s President, Andrzej Duda, has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The 49-year-old is feeling well, has no serious symptoms and is under constant medical observation, the head of his Cabinet announced in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Duda went into isolation in accordance with regulations. The head of state has reportedly been vaccinated with three shots.

In Poland, the number of new coronavirus infections is currently rising slightly again.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health reported 17,196 new infections within 24 hours. In the same period, 632 people died in connection with the virus.

It is expected that the particularly contagious Omicron variant will also cause the number of new infections to rise further in Poland.
