Residents of Japandu expressed their displeasure about the deaths of their wives and unborn babies due to poor road conditions

The poor road system in the area has been attributed to the deaths of pregnant women and their unborn babies by the people of Japandu, a rural hamlet that is close to Kuntenanse but lies inside the Bosomefreho District of the Ashanti Region.

According to the residents, the bad road has led to the demise of more than seven people including pregnant women.

The pregnant woman is alleged to have died while being transported to the nearest Health Facility during labor on a motorcycle at Kuntenanse in the Bosomtwe District.

Motorcycles are most of the time mode of transportation in the community due to the poor state of the roads as no vehicle ply the route.

There is no healthcare facility for communities with a population of more than three thousand people, forcing pregnant women and the sick to seek medical care in Kuntenanse, the district capital of Bosomtwe, or Asiwa, the district capital of Bosomefreho District.

The people in the area noted that the poor Network has affected the sales of their farm produce as it becomes difficult for them to transport foodstuffs to the market.

Also, purchasers of farm produce from the farmers are unable to do business with them anymore because the place is inaccessible.

The residents have therefore appealed to the government to come to their aid by fixing the roads in the community.

The chief of the area bemoaned the absence of the school feeding in their only school.

He claims that although school feeding programs will benefit the kids, yet, it is difficult for them to go because of how distant the school is from their homes and there is no one in the school to give care.

The chief continued by saying that the majority of parents could not afford to send their kids to school and that in addition, because the area is a hamlet, even if a child receives money, there won’t be any food to buy.
