Security officer shot multiple times during cash-in-transit heist

A 41-year-old security officer is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot during an alleged cash-in transit heist in Umlazi, Durban, on Tuesday.

According to a statement released by Emer-G-Med, whose paramedics responded to the scene in Umlazi R section just before 12pm, the man had suffered multiple high calibre gunshot wounds.

“Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilize him, and a call was made for the assistance of the Netcare 911 aeromedical helicopter to airlift the man to a specialist facility for the definitive care that he required,”  said Emer-G-Med in a statement.
