Suspended Manaf Ibrahim Can’t Eat His Cake And Have It !

Suspended member of the New Patriotic Party Manaf Ibrahim is reported to have said that, the seat of government presented two options for him to choose, either to contest the seat or to be sacked and he chose the former, I.e to contest the seat. If that was the case, why didn’t he resigned honorably in lieu of being sacked ? What exposes the mischief in this case is Manaf’s deliberate misrepresentations of himself as an important factor in the scheme of things. It should be laid simply, Manaf is ill-tempered, arrogant and has no disrespect for elders.

It is said that, a child who will not let his mother sleep, that child will not sleep. Manaf Ibrahim a young political activist fortunately admired by his peers and not all Asawase NPP members but appears to have been blinded, misled and consumed by this affection from his peers. Manaf started well, but he seems to have grown wings. This article do not in anyway seek to chronicle events surrounding his seeming rise to political fame but to lay bare certain important occurrence in his political life.

Manaf, on the chairmanship campaign of Mr Paul Afoko, served as an aide. Shortly after Mr Afoko won and the troubles in the party reared its head, Manaf jumped ship from the office of Mr Afoko to opponents of Mr Afoko. Sources have said that, Manaf lost his seat at Mr Afoko’s office because Mr Afoko frowned upon Manaf’s continuous castigation and tirade at Dr Bawumia, but as the deceptive world will have it Manaf ended up being Bawumia’s aide. It is said that, Manaf armed himself with same modus operandi such as  “wicked lies, gossips and false tales” about Mr Afoko, Alan Cash and others to sell to his paymasters who appeared to be opponents of Mr Afoko. Indeed, some who witnessed one scene at the Kumasi Airport observed that Manaf openly launched salty invective at Mr Afoko in order to ingratiate himself the more to opponents of Mr Afoko.

On how Manaf ended up being an aide to Dr Bawumia, he is reported to be part of those who hatched a plan to lock the Asawase constituency office during Asawase suspension brouhaha which saw the painful death of one young NPP activist. This, as a test, endeared him to the office of veep Bawumia as having part it.

How could anybody have thought that a staffer and director of political affairs at the Vice President’s office of NPP government Manaf Ibrahim would sue the very party which he serves in its government? How could Manaf have thought that he can eat his cake and have it ? Isn’t it unreasonable for anyone to bite the hands that feeds them ? Do we need a soothsayer to tell us that, the suspended Manaf Ibrahim by his actions has no modicum of respect for Dr Bawumia? Are we saying Dr Bawumia did not counsel the arrogant and disrespectful Manaf ? Some staffers at the Vice president’s office have criticized Manaf’s intransigence because they believe his actions was like a dagger stabbing at the political future of Dr Bawumia.

Now, Manaf has been suspended as a member, per the dictates of article 12 in the NPP constitution, it is only members in good standing and of character can contest as parliamentary candidate. Manaf’s action, objectively assessed defeats the dictates of the constitution and as he is naturally barred from contesting the elections, in what capacity did he sue the court process?

A word to the wise is….
