‘TAP N GO’ SYSTEM IS GOOD FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT BUT PROTECT THE EXISTING ONE BEFORE – ‘TAP & HOP’ CEO TO GOV’T

The Chief Executive Officer of “TaP & HoP Company LTD” in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region, says the “Tap N’ Go” public transportation system launched by the Vice President, who is also the New Patriotic Party’s (NP) presidential candidate is a very good initiative that will help reduce the unauthorized transport fairs that some drivers have been charging.

Mr. Prince Asamoah in an interview wants the government to put pragmatic measures in place to promote, protect, and ensure the sustainability of the already existing private organizations that provide the same/similar service in the competitive market.

According to him, TaP & HoP is a multi-functional, cross-utility card to access and pay for transport services across the country that already exist and are in use.

Mr. Asamoah said the ‘Tap N Go’ system that has been introduced by the government is beginning with the Metro Mass Transit Limited’s Inter-City Services, and will soon be rolled out to other transport operators like the GPRTU, VIP, VVIP, STC, taxis, and trotros to address the many challenges facing the sector, including corruption, and lack of transparency and accountability, which he sees it as an excellent approach.
