Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of Ghana, has asked all Ghanaians to pray for Black Star winger Christian Atsu.
He hopes the search team in Turkey will find Christian Atsu and bring him home.
In a post on social media, the President said, “Our hearts and prayers are with the survivors and we pray that our fellow Ghanaian, Christian Atsu, will be found safe and sound”.
The President took the opportunity to tell the government and people of Turkey how sorry he was for the lives lost in Monday’s earthquake.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Governments and peoples of Turkey and Syria on the devastation and the tragic loss of lives occasioned by Monday’s earthquake. May their souls rest in perfect peace.”
Reports from Turkey say that Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu is buried under the rubble of the deadly earthquake that struck Turkey early on Monday morning.
Taner Savut, the former Chelsea winger who is now the sporting director of Hatayspor, has been untraceable since the disaster.
Reports from Turkey say hundreds of people have died and many more have been seriously injured.
Atsu scored the only goal in Hatayspor’s 1-0 win over Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday. He came on as a late substitute.
The 31-year-old signed for Hatayspor as a free agent in September but has made just three substitute appearances.
