What A Diabetic Patient Should Do To Stay Healthy

Diabetes in the body is caused when the blood sugar level in the body is exceeded, and it has a variety of things that triggers it in the body.

First of all, we must note that diabetes is caused by a number of lifestyle and genetic factors. Some of these factors includes:

1. Overweight, Obesity, Physical inactivity.

2. Insulin resistance and hormonal diseases.

3. Genetic mutation and family history.

With the causes of diabetes being said, let us look at the types of food a diabetic patient should eat in search of a solution. Nutrition and physical activity cannot be overemphasized in the quest for a diabetic patient to stay healthy. The key to eating healthily even as a diabetic patient is eating from all classes of food in the right proportion according to your meal plan.

1. When eating vegetables, eat the non starchy ones such as Broccoli, carrots, pepper, greens, tomatoes, and the starchy ones such as potatoes, corn, green peas.

2. It is also advisable for you to eat fruits such as oranges, melon, berries, apples, bananas, and grapes.

3. While eating grains, make sure galf of your grain meals per day should be whole grains such as wheat, rice, bread, pasta, cereals, oats, cornmeal, barley, and quinoa.

4. Make sure you eat protein products such as

lean meat

chicken or turkey without the skin

fish

eggs

nuts and peanuts

dried beans and certain peas, such as chickpeas and split peas

meat substitutes, such as tofu

5. Also make sure you take dairy products such as milk, yoghurt and cheese.

6. In order to eat food with healthy fat, make sure you focus on food like:

Olive oil, fish like Salmon, Tuna, Mackerel, nuts and seeds and Avocado pear. Also make sure you use oil to cook food instead of butter, cream or margarine.

If you’re overweight, and you have diabetes, try as much as possible to lose weight, so you’ll have a more healthy life.

In addition, being physically active helps in the following ways:

Reduces blood glucose levels

Reduces blood pressure

Boosts blood flow

Burns extra calories

Improves your mood

Improves memory retention in older adults
