The Bono East Regional Deputy Police Commander, ACP Stephen Boadu, has undertaken a familiarization tour of the Techiman Zongo communities, with visits to the Bono East Central Mosque and the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah Central Mosque. The visit formed part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the Police Service and the Muslim community while seeking their prayers and support for peace and development.
During separate interactions with religious leaders and congregants, ACP Boadu explained that the purpose of his visit was to formally introduce himself and foster stronger collaboration with opinion leaders to enhance peace and security across the region.
He explained that modern policing thrives on community engagement rather than isolation, noting that his office remains open to residents and stakeholders who wish to partner with the Police to ensure public safety and stability.
“I am the new Deputy Regional Police Commander, and I am here to officially familiarize myself with the leadership of the Zongo and Islamic communities in Techiman. I ask for your prayers and support as I carry out my mandate in accordance with the law.
“The truth is, I cannot perform my duties effectively by sitting comfortably in my office without first engaging with the people and leaders I am meant to serve. I want to assure you that the office of the Regional Police Command and all other police commands in the region remains open to the public, especially to community leaders.”
The Deputy Commander also appealed to the youth to be guided by the teachings of their Imams and religious leaders, reminding them that the Qur’an calls on believers to live righteous lives and shun wrongdoing.
“I urge the youth to strictly adhere to the teachings of their Imams and religious leaders, as the Holy Qur’an clearly instructs believers to stay away from sin. Those who live by these teachings will have no issues with the police. However, despite the good guidance of our Imams, some young people still choose to go their own way and, in doing so, violate the law.
“I therefore plead with the youth to stay out of trouble so that together, we can maintain peace in Techiman, attract investors, and promote development in our region.”

At the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah Central Mosque, the Deputy Chief Imam, Alhaji Khalid Umai, conveyed the congregation’s gratitude for the visit, describing it as a remarkable demonstration of respect and partnership from the Police Command. He assured ACP Boadu of the community’s full cooperation.
“You are only the second Police Commander to honor us with a visit to our community and place of worship, and we are very pleased about that. We pray for God’s grace and protection for you, knowing that your work is not easy, as those who break the law often try to undermine your efforts. You can always count on our full support and collaboration.”
In a similar remark, the Bono East Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Musah Abdulai, praised ACP Boadu for taking the initiative to reach out to the Muslim community. He reaffirmed the Islamic fraternity’s commitment to supporting the Police Service in its efforts to ensure law and order across the Bono East Region.

“We are very pleased with the visit from the Deputy Regional Police Commander, as it will help reduce tension in the Zongo communities and curb social vices in our area.”
He also counseled the youth to desist from criminal conduct, stressing that the law will deal with anyone found culpable of wrongdoing.
“We, the leadership of the Zongo communities, are ready to support him and the entire Command in their efforts to protect lives and property. I would like to advise the youth in our communities, especially those engaged in social vices and other negative behaviors, to take note that the Deputy Regional Commander has made it clear that he is committed to improving security and upholding the law. Therefore, any youth who engages in unlawful activities and finds themselves in police custody should know that we, the community leaders, will cooperate fully with the police in handling such cases according to the laws of this country.”
