Prof. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong, a renowned expert in sports, recreation, and physical education, has been appointed as Ghana’s National Coordinator for School Sports by President John Dramami Mahama. As Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Sarpong has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, previously serving as Coordinator for the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports, and Dance (ICHPER-SD) in West Africa, and as Dean of the Faculty of Health, Allied Sciences and Home Economics Education at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). Indeed, his tenure as Director of Sports at UEW was marked by remarkable successes, including leading 19 athletes to the All Africa University Games in Kenya, where UEW won overall third in Africa, and best among Ghana’s universities at the tournament.
Prof. Sarpong’s impressive credentials include a prestigious postgraduate diploma in sports coaching from the University of Leipzig, specializing in football, and an IAAF level coaching certificate in track and field (jumps).
