Capt. (rtd) Prince Kofi Amoabeng, a former personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces who doubles as the founder of the now-defunct UT Bank, has indicated that former President John Dramani Mahama is the best person to change the fortunes of Ghana if he’s given the mandate to steer the affairs of the country again.
In his view, ascending to the highest seat of the land is not child’s play and the much experience he gained during his administration as President is enough requirements to rebuild the country, adding that he “knows exactly what to do to move the country forward”
He made the comments on Kingdom FM on Thursday, October 26, 2023,
He further said,Mr Mahama has learnt his mistakes thus knows exactly what did not sink well well with Ghanaians during his maiden term and he is with greatest convictions that such mistakes would be dealt with when given second chance.
“…I look at President Mahama, and what I have to say about him is that we have never had somebody who has been president before becoming president again; it is only Mahama.
“And therefore, if you ask me, it is worth giving Mahama the chance because he has been there before. Do you think if UT should be back to where it was and I go back, I would repeat those same mistakes? I won’t repeat the same mistakes. I know exactly the mistakes that I committed,” he stated.
Mr Amoabeng appealed Ghanaians to rally behind John Mahama and give him the necessary unflinching support to lead the country come 2024 polls.
“I think Ghanaians have to take Mahama very seriously because he has been there before. He must have a lot of regrets; he must have a whole lot of things that he wants to change. And I know him to some extent. I know that he is a very, very humane person and quite humble too.”
He emphasized that even though Mr Mahama might have made some mistakes in his firs term but he’s coming as a refined person to bring the back on track.
