Minister Of Trade inspects ongoing road projects in Techiman North

The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and Member of Parliament for Techiman North, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, together with the Techiman North District Chief Executive, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, have inspected works on several ongoing road construction projects across the Techiman North District to assess the progress of work done.

The inspection tour covered key road projects including Aworano–Mesidan, Aworano–Tako Fiano, Aworano–Tuobodom, Jama–Timponim, Abrefi Estate, Krobo, Sebene, Anyinabrem, Konimase, among others.

Speaking to the media after the inspection, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, particularly on roads that had posed serious challenges to residents for years.

She noted that after two and a half months of construction, significant progress had been made, especially on the Aworano–Kenten bridge, which had been a major concern for commuters.

“The contractor mobilized to the site exactly one week after the contract was awarded. I made a personal commitment not to inspect the work until there was visible improvement on the road.

“Two and a half months after work commenced, I must say I am very impressed with the progress made so far. One of the major challenges faced by the people of Aworano was the poor condition of their road, particularly the bridge connecting Aworano to Kenten.

“The deplorable state of that bridge made it extremely difficult for commuters, especially after rainfall. However, within just two and a half months, the bridge has been successfully fixed.”

The Minister recalled that road infrastructure was a major campaign promise made in the name of President John Dramani Mahama and emphasized that the government is committed to delivering on that pledge.

“During the campaign season, we made a promise, in the name of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, to fix all roads in the Techiman North Constituency. Today, President Mahama is honoring that promise to the good people of Techiman North”

Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare further revealed that drainage works on the roads under construction have been fully completed, expressing optimism that all roads in the constituency would be tarred by the end of the year.

She also highlighted the economic benefits of the road projects, noting that the construction works have created employment opportunities for residents while boosting the incomes of local food vendors

“Beyond the bridge, all drainage systems along the roads under construction have been duly completed. I am very optimistic that all the roads in Techiman North will be tarred by the end of the year.

“The road construction works have also created employment opportunities for residents, with some engaged as laborers, while food vendors have experienced increased patronage due to the presence of workers on site.”

The Minister added that plans are in place to beautify the constituency once the roads are completed through the planting of flowers and trees along the road corridors.

“When the roads are fully completed, we will plant flowers and trees along them to further beautify Techiman North.”

The Chief of Timponim, Nana Yeboah Ameyaw IV, expressed excitement over the commencement of road works, which began three weeks ago after years of difficulty accessing the area during the rainy season.

“Work at Jama Timponim started three weeks ago, and we are all impressed with the pace at which it is progressing. The road used to pose serious challenges, especially whenever it rained, so we are very happy that construction work is now underway at Jama Timponim.

While commending the current government for the progress made, he also called on the administration to ensure continuity of development projects.

“This development shows that the current government is doing very good work, which is highly commendable. However, the government of H.E. John Dramani Mahama should also fulfil its promise to continue and complete all projects that were initiated by the previous government.”
