In a statement, the Muslim leadership praised Mahama for acknowledging the importance of the Muslim community’s contributions to Ghana’s development and for promising to address their long-standing issues.

Specifically, the community appreciated Mahama’s commitments to:

• introduce an additional holiday to the celebration of Eid – ul – Fitr

• Reduce the cost of Hajj payment

– Completing the stalled Islamic University project

– Increasing support for Muslim education and scholarships

•Promoting inclusive national development

The Muslim community’s endorsement is seen as a significant boost to Mahama’s campaign, as he seeks to win back the presidency.
