Notorious Land Guard Remanded by Teshie Nungua Magistrate Court

In a recent development at the Teshie Nungua Magistrate Court, presided over by H/H Bianca Adwoa Osei Sarfo has remanded into police custody a notorious land guard Adayoro Patrick Tettey, also known as Kofi Soldier for the offences of attempt to commit murder, use of offensive weapon and possession of ammunition without an authority.

The incident in question dated August 22, 2023 happened at Teshie in the Greater Accra Greater during the celebration of the Teshie Homowo Festival when the accused Kofi Soldier deliberately and unlawfully shot Eric Adjetey Sowah with a pistol, causing harm ro him instantly.

The victim, Eric Adjetey, a farmer and a residence of Teshie reportedly received several threats from the land guard and his accomplices who are currently at large.

On the said day about 7:30 am, the notorious land guard pulled a pistol in the full glare of the public and shot his victim on the hip.

The Teshie Homowo festival, known for its vibrant cultural displays and joyful gatherings, took a dark turn when Kofi Soldier and his gang descended upon the festivities. Eyewitnesses at the scene described a chaotic scene, with festival-goers fleeing in fear as gunshots rang out.

Our sources have revealed that Kofi Soldier, who is also wanted by the National Operations Department of the Ghana Police Service, fled from Accra to seek refuge in Atimpoku, in the Eastern Region. Determined law enforcement officers, working tirelessly to bring him to justice, conducted extensive investigations that led to his capture.

Upon Kofi Soldier’s apprehension, the authorities not only secured his arrest but also retrieved crucial evidence. Among the items recovered were one round of GR 32 AAA live ammunition, suggesting a continued threat to public safety, and a camouflage jacket believed to have been worn during the heinous act.

Kofi Soldier has been remanded into police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Teshie Nungua Magistrate Court on the 23rd of October, 2023. This development underscores the commitment of the Ghanaian legal system and law enforcement agencies in addressing land-related disputes and criminal activities that endanger the lives and security of citizens.

The case has generated significant public interest and serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilant policing and the enforcement of the rule of law to maintain peace and order in our communities.
