Dr. Nana Takyi Asiedu, a distinguished spiritualist and political activist, has passionately advocated for Ghana to embrace the invocation of deities and traditional powers for the inauguration of the President-Elect, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, along with all his appointees. This, he contends, would foster good governance and deter corruption and related malfeasance within the nation.
He observed that since 1992, the country has sworn in its political leaders and their appointees with the Bible and Quran, under the assumption of Ghana being a predominantly Christian nation. Yet, bribery, corruption, and thievery have been on the ascent, despite these ostensibly Christian tenets.
He asserted that the most effective means to curb the ‘create, loot, and share’ culture, bribery, and corruption, along with other detrimental governance practices, is to adopt the practice of swearing in our president and his appointees with deities and the lesser gods, who act promptly to address all nation-ruiners who exploit their political positions to defraud the country.
He remarked that the Bible is merely a document and that Ghanaians have manipulated its teachings, resulting in Christians stealing from their fellow congregants during church services, among other acts of theft, without facing consequences. He emphasized that Christians hold the belief that God forgives sins and therefore deliberately stray from the righteous path, seeking forgiveness afterwards. This has contributed to the persistent poor governance in the country.
He argued that for the nation to eradicate corruption and activities related to it, it is essential to incorporate the invocation of deities into the swearing-in process, thereby deterring appointees and other officials from embezzling the country’s resources.
He surmised that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama would be the most exemplary president Ghana has ever witnessed, a reality that will only come to fruition when officials within the Mahama administration are compelled to swear upon deities to dissuade them from embezzling from the public treasury. He emphasized that he is not affiliated with any political party but eagerly anticipates the nation’s progress.
