“Reconsider me”- McBrown appeals to US Embassy to reconsider visa ban

Nana Ama Mcbrown the esteemed Ghanaia actress and media figure, has reached out to the US Embassy in Ghana, requesting a reconsideration of her visa ban.

In March 2023, she shared her past experience of being deported from the US in 2001 after her uncle, Papa Kofi McBrown, attempted to bring her there due to her talent.

Despite her various attempts to secure visas for other countries, including Libya, she has faced repeated denials from the US and encountered family rejection.

During an interview with broadcaster Bola Ray, McBrown made a heartfelt appeal to the embassy, urging them to review her record and intentions.

“I earnestly ask them to reconsider my case. My history will show that I am not a bad person. I understand my past mistakes and genuinely wish to rectify them,” she stated.

McBrown also discussed the pervasive fear and anxiety that many Ghanaians experience when dealing with the embassy, which she believes leads to dishonesty in visa applications.

She noted, “There’s a deep-seated fear when we go to the embassy, making us nervous and prone to dishonesty. It’s as if not receiving a visa feels like a death sentence. This fear often results in missed opportunities.”

McBrown encouraged Ghanaians to be truthful in their visa applications, emphasizing that modern systems, including fingerprinting, now track all details.

“Things have evolved. Our personal details are recorded meticulously. It’s crucial to be honest in your applications because discrepancies can have lasting consequences,” she advised.
