The Importance of Education On Gynaecological Conditions and Menstrual Hygiene

Speciallady Awareness carries a yearly outreach program to inspire, educate, and raise awareness for women on reproductive health issues, and to combat menstrual poverty.

From Monday 27th September to Thursday 30th September 2021, the NGO carried out outreach projects, providing education on women reproductive health and donating sanitary products, hygiene products, drinks and toiletries, and other provisions to over thousands of students and women in Asuogyaman Atimpoku District in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

On day one or the tour, the team paid a courtesy call on Nana Afrakomah 11, the Paramount Queenmother of Akwamu and her elders.
She expressed her gratitude to Speciallady Awareness initiatives in her community and encouraged Speciallady Awareness to continue to make significant impact with girl child education and women reproductive health awareness.
Also, students at Akwamufie Presby JHS and Adjena SHS were educated on gynaecological conditions and menstrual hygiene.
In addition, on day two of the tour, Speciallady Team visited Abuakwa JHS and Apegusu SHS to educate the students on gynaecological conditions and menstrual hygiene. Sanitary products and essentials were donated.

Also, the Paramount Chief of Akwamuman, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III welcomed and hosted the team during their charity tour in Asuogyaman Atimpoku District.

Speciallady Awareness believes that with extensive education, support, outreach programs and research on these conditions, there will be an improvement on menstrual poverty and awareness of gynaecological conditions.

During, the outreach projects, the founder of Speciallady Awareness, Elizabeth Amoaa highlighted the importance of seeking early diagnosis and appropriate treatment and prevention of further medical complications and unnecessary surgeries.

Speciallady Awareness is a Woman Reproductive Health Advocacy, Non-Governmental Organization that creates awareness about women reproductive health conditions and the empowerment of the girl child established by Elizabeth Amoaa after she experienced a long health journey which ended up with multiple surgeries and complications.
She decided to use herself to challenge, inspire and encourage women to seek early diagnosis and appropriate treatment by raising awareness on women reproductive health issues and combating menstrual poverty.

“Although many agencies have been raising awareness on women reproductive health issues and supporting women and young girls, it seems inadequate” Elizabeth Amoaa said.

Speciallady Awareness periodically carries out outreach projects in educational establishments and communities in Ghana. They have donated sanitary products, educational materials and medical supplies worth thousands of pounds to communities in Ghana.

The outreach project was sponsored by Cowbell Ghana, Kaya Tours Ghana, Frosty Bite Ice Cream and ICANN Brands Events Innovation, KOODOO facilities and Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III Charity Foundation.
