The gunman who shot two (2) residents of Kasoa yesterday during a COVID-19 relief donation by the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency has been arrested.
According to the man who was caught with a riffle in hand, he said that he was sent by the National Democratic Congress(NDC) women organizer to disrupt the occasion with gun shots.
Speaking to My News Ghana, an eye witness who identified himself as 2 Cedis said that the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Hon. Hawa Koomson gave out some bags of rice and other food stuffs to be shared for the less privilege in Gada which is a suburb of Kasoa.
According to him they faced violent opposition upon reaching the area to share the items.
He narrated that some young men who they believe to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) tried to stop them from sharing the items saying that the area was an NDC stronghold and so they were not allowed to share the items there.
They resisted and it resulted in chaos. To their surprise a young man pulled out a gun and fired warning shots which accidentally injured two (2) residents of the area.
The residents were rushed to the hospital for immediately for treatment.
Some New Patriotic Party (NPP) boys who would not let the matter sleep followed up and ended up arresting the gunman.
Upon questioning, he confessed that he was sent to the place by the NDC women organizer to disrupt the occasion with gun shots.
The issue has been handed over to the Kasoa District Police Command for further investigation.
